When KPG software says it can't talk to the radio, nine times out of ten it's the cable. Things to check: the right COM port is selected in the software, the USB driver is installed and not showing a warning in Device Manager, the plug is fully seated (NX connectors can feel seated when they're not), and the radio is powered on. Cheap cables with counterfeit USB chips cause random drops mid-write, which is the worst time to lose a connection. A genuine or known-good cable is cheap insurance. What cable setup do you trust on your bench?
